Nikon executives recently said in an interview that Nikon's current APS-C format product line focuses on entry-level products to attract new users and users who like lightweight cameras. Nikon's current APS-C lenses are also mainly entry-level lens products. Therefore, it is expected that Nikon may not launch a professional-level APS-C format camera similar to the D500 SLR camera for the time being.

Even the recently released Nikon Z50 Mark II uses the same CMOS as its predecessor. As of now, all Nikon Z mount APS-C mirrorless cameras use the same CMOS. According to interviews with Nikon executives, this sensor will most likely continue to be used.

I used to be looking forward to Nikon launching a high-end APS-C mirrorless camera body like the Sony a6700 or Fujifilm xt5. Nowadays, if someone is looking forward to a new "flagship" APS-C mirrorless camera, the best chance is Canon R7 Mark II next year.
